Well, you gotta appreciate the fact the man didn’t make us wait long. After teasing us yesterday with the intense “Pen To Paper,” which it appears is going to act as the album’s intro, Brother Ali has officially announced the release date for his sixth studio album, All The Beauty In This Whole Life. Scheduled for a May 5th release date, All The Beauty is Ali’s first album since 2012’s Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color. With a solid 15 tracks, this latest release sees guest spots from the likes of deM atlaS, Sa-Roc, Idris Philips, and, well, that’s it. Nice and concise, just how I like it.
Of course, with that announcement also came the lead single, “Own Light (What Hearts Are For),” which is a beautiful, personal, and somewhat uplifting tune. It stands in sharp contrast with the more aggressive “Pen To Paper” that we heard yesterday, so it’s going to be interesting to hear how Ali balances the two sounds for the entirety of the record, assuming “Pen To Paper” isn’t just a one-off, of course. As with any Rhymesayers release, there are a bevy of pre-order options, including vinyl, CD, and shirt/hoodie bundles, so be sure to grab them while you can.
You can listen to “Own Light (What Hearts Are For)” below, with the announcement video just below that.
