Finally! After a three-year hiatus, the gapped-tooth rapper is back! On August 25th, Grieves is going to release his fifth studio album, Running Wild. Along with the announcement, he released the record’s first single, “RX,” and if this song is any indication, not only is Grieves back, he’s reinvented his sound, as well. With production from Chords, “RX” is a spacey tale of prescription drugs, with these tittering hi-hats that are very reminiscent of the current trap sound found in contemporary mainstream Hip Hop. If Running Wild hones in on this sound, the record is obviously going to be very polarizing for his fanbase, but personally, based on this first taste, I think Grives has the potential to do something amazing with this sound.
